Alaska black bear hunt - need help

I have an opportunity to go up to Alaska and hunt black bear on prince of Wales island, I’m just wondering if anyone has any experience with going up there and hunting as in the process of how things go, permit as it will not be with a guide, tag and all that

Long story short looking for a little insite from someone who has been up to Alaska hunting

POW is draw only for non residents, unless you hire a guide. I drew the tag in 2016 and had a great time. Defiantly on my list to return to.

I hunted southeast Alaska for black bear a few times it’s a really fun hunt. I wasn’t on POW but the island I hunted went to draw only as well. I put in last year and couldn’t draw used to just buy the license in town.

Well sorry for the silly questions about it then ha, but glad I asked, I just got the call from a buddy who asked if I was in for an Alaska trip in 2020 and came strait here for info after saying heck yes ha

Any idea what part of PoW youre going to hunt?

Hunted POW the .art year for over the counter tags,  we had a blast and hope to go back again some time

I have hunted black bear and Sitka blacktail and there are a lot of bears with a lot of record book bears. Another alternative is Prince William sound for black bear where there are a ton of bears there also
