How long before that money starts getting slid over into the General Fund?
I renew all my tabs online. Went to renew my Lance camper last night and noticed a price increase. Looked at the break down, and see a $6 fee for "Abandoned RV Disposal". So now all the RV owners in Washington get to pay for getting the derelict and abandoned RV's in Seattle, and elsewhere. Isn't that just special. Went into effect on May 1st. This is for all RV's. Campers, trailers, and motor homes. If you think about how many RV's are licensed in this State, at $6.00 each, that comes out to one heck of a pile of money! How long before that money starts getting slid over into the General Fund?
So, if an RV gets to the point it is useless and taking up room. It should just drop it off on the corner and call the state to pick it up tell them you already paid it forward

Can’t believe they towed it far since it was falling apart and full of trash.

They make the hood look trashy. The owners should pay and make it hurt!
I never understood the slide in truck camper either. It should just be cargo.
aogmitch - I came to a realization last night when I looked at my camper registration. Why do I pay to register my camper!?!?! DMV has nothing to do with the camper. I pay plenty extra to license a one ton truck with DMV. I get paying extra because it's a bigger truck and can potential continually haul around more weight. Register a travel trailer - yes you are putting more wheels and weight on the road. I'm already paying for my wheels and weight on the road.Sorry I had to get a soap box somehow. I won't even get into the extra fee! Think I'll just join the crowd that doesn't register it and dump on the side of I5 when I'm done so the rest of you can pay to have it hauled off

Getting rid of an abandoned car is a PIA, a motor-home is horrible!
I deal with these crappy motorhomes once or twice every week. I manage a large private complex along I-5 and it is a regular problem. I have a note book of photos of motorhomes that have been trespassed from the property. Just ran one off for the 2nd time. Our tow company wont even tow them anymore it is such a huge problem. They are often full of hazardous materials. One in 20 they might track down the owner. The folks in them have no money so they are not paying for anything and you cant make them. They just walk away and leave them on public land for the taxpayers to handle. Saw two being loaded on low boys across the street last week. It is a state wide problem. Just look when you travel around. And check out how many are sitting on private property rotting away. Sooner or later they will have to be handled. If think anyone is going to be held accountable than you must be a believer in unicorns. They need a new way to track rvs and motorhomes from the time they are purchased for life. The present system cant do it. Sooner or later they will have to tax the manufactures.
Just pay your $6.00 and quit your whining. You are lucky it is not a $100.00(it will take a few years to ramp up to that amount). Its a small price to pay to help clean up a major problem. You are lucky if you don't have to also pay the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) tax that many of us pay. That one is worth whining about.
