Spring bear permits / apps / points
« on: May 15, 2019, 09:18:54 PM »
In the regs now they dont post the hunt choices like they used to.  does somebody have a link to the chart with the hunt choices listed and the 2018 or 2019 apps / points?

Thanks, i found that online, was actually looking for the chart format like they used to publish in the regs, so i can have it all in front of me on one screen on my phone.  Had it saved in my downloads but deleted it.

Such horrible success rates.  look at aladdin and 49n and huckleberry.  Success rate should be much higher.  This is why we need otc spring.  permit holders just arent getting enough bears killed.   https://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/management/game-harvest/2018/black-bear-spring#hunt-7006

Wow, lick creek, grand ronde, kitsap, mason: hunter success 0%. I think a few more permits issued in those units would be sustainable maybe?

And 204 has a higher fall harvest than any ne unit, yet has no spring permits.  clearly there are enough bears in that unit to support spring hunt opportunities.

I havent been to the southeast units since i was a kid.  Why such a low number of permits available for those units? Arent there plenty of bears down that way?

Most of the NE corner is thick and many of the tag holders are coming from the west side of the state that hunt maybe a week at max. It's not an easy hunt for those that don't know the units well enough and sadly most people just don't really put in the effort.

In regards to 204, I agree that there should be a spring hunt. There are a ton of bears in that unit and it would probably help the mule deer herds up there.
