Bolt rifle. I probably  do a different reamer for the AR10. The current reamer has COAL with the 95gr that is too long to feed from a AR10 magazine. I could try the current reamer on a AR10 barrel and see how the lighter bullets like the current free bore.

The current reamer design puts the 95gr Sierra MK’s shank/boat tail junction right at the base of the neck for a COAL of 2.780 to kiss the lands.

I bought some of those 95 SMK's when they first came out and at the time was thinking about a 22-284 build but after talking to Sierra bulletsmiths, there was concern they would not survive the massive amount of RPM.  Those 95 SMK's are a VERY long bullet.

Are you doing a 22 Creed Improved just for something different, or, since you are having to fireform, have you given any thought to a 22-243 Improved and picking up a few more grains of case capacity to sling those 95's?

The length of the Creedmoor case is better suited for the length of the 95gr Sierra. You would have to seat the 95 fairly deep in the .243 case (Being longer) and intrude on the powder space (Pressures earlier) to have a COAL that will feed from a AICS magazine. The Creedmoor case works out perfect for the longer 95 and a COAL that will feed from a AICS magazine. Another bonus is the fact Alpha is making excellent large primer and small primer .22 CM brass. They are also producing .25 CM brass now.

I’m fairly sure I will run right with the .22-243 with formed cases (40 degree shoulder)using Alpha small primer brass which can handle higher pressures. We will see.

Just to put the .224 95gr MK into prospective.

77gr MK (Left)
95gr MK (Right)

I know a lot of this is just joking around but why are do so many get so wrapped up in barrel life.  If it's that big a concern, we'd all be shooting 223's or 308's.  As the gunsmith that built my very first rifle once told me, barrels are threaded for a reason.

Besides, it's not like this is an extreme overbore setup so I'd imagine a 22 Creed Imp. should pretty easily see around 1000rnds of good shooting, and since I don't really think this is BH's only rifle, that's quite a bit of shooting.

BH, what powder are you thinking about using in this new creation?  I'll bet RL26 will be your best performer with regard to velocity.  The bad part is, unless you already have some, finding any RL26 will be the hard part.
