20" spring bear
« on: May 20, 2019, 07:09:48 PM »
Made the plan with A buddy for a shotgun trip bear hunt.  He doesn't have much time as his girlfriends son is holding in my opinion the best tag in this state as well.

The trip started with us getting off a little early so we could make the drive down and get somewhere to set up camp before dark.

Saturday morning started with a long early morning hike to get to our vantage point.  With sign found everywhere we were very optimistic for the day.  Knowing the boars should be cruising we figured it was a matter of time!

The worst thing that a person can do this time of year is keep moving and not sit and glass.  They will show up sometime.  Long story short we sat all day and never saw a thing.  Finally at 6:15 in the evening Jeff looked down to see a big bear walking under us at 200 yards through a small window.  With just A few seconds to react he was in position ready for him to walk into one more 6'opening.  When he did he let the 28 nosler bark and he piled up 40' down the hill.  He was just green scored at 20 2/16"

Great bear!
