University of Idaho Bound Idaho OTC deer
« on: June 14, 2019, 08:40:46 AM »
My son is headed to University of Idaho in Moscow to pursue a degree in Wildlife management and hopefully one day he will infiltrate a state agency and manage big game and predators from a sound pro hunting conservation approach rather then a smoke evergreen and pet pygmy rabbits while watching wolf's chew on ungulates.  He will be over there for 4 or 5 years so figured might as well spend some time in the fall visiting and hunting with him.  Just curious if anyone has some ideas of places to start scouting and learning that are within an hour of Moscow that i can pull my trailer to for weekend trips.  I bought him a 3 year license for Idaho and am excited for the opportunity to spend some time over there with him and even more excited for the potential of future wildlife management after he graduates he is very driven and motivated and a life long hunter.  Thanks in advance for any info your willing to share.

Make sure he gets his residency there and buys a lifetime license before he leaves (if he leaves :chuckle:).

Lots of places to camp and good area for nearby hunting

Go up to the Bennett mill on weekdays to learn more info and get a free permit for hunting their lands as they own a lot of land close to Moscow.

Maybe I'll see your son around. I'll be in the CNR one more school year.

8a and 10a, both close to there, are two of the top producing units in the state. A friend killed a huge whitetail in unit 8. Good luck!
