Well, did ya?

In business, I’ve always lived by the motto of never throwing good money at bad... I wish I had the gut to apply this motto to special permit apps in this state  :bash: Seeing that bull elk permits are pretty much functionally extinct, did you still put in?

I’ll be seeing all 99.999999999999999999 percent of you guys in the losers lounge later!

Well, based on the poll, my plan of taking advantage of reduced applicants isn't working out so far... :(

I did, but each year I seem to cut down on what I apply for.

I'm in for all three elk categories. Haven't been putting in for the "Bull" category for the last few years, but did this year. I really can't afford to go elk hunting as a non-resident in other states, so I figure I better take my chances here. I have a fair number of Quality points (11) but if I was to go back to zero I'm not sure if I'd apply again.

I hear ya. I only put in for quality and bull. My plan was to burn my points this year on relatively easy to draw permits, as we’ll most likely be in MT next year, but with the permit allocations, it’s looking like I’m just going to have to walk away from them...

If we were staying in WA and I drew out this year, there’s no way I would start applying again.

I did and I didn't!  instead of putting in for 8 or so permits I only put in for 2.  And it took a lot for me to even do that because they have screwed it up so bad!

Nope, almost put in for antlerless but stuck to my guns.  I normally put my family in for everything, it's a significant amount of money we saved.  It's sad, my first year of not holding a hunting license in WA for anything except waterfowl.

It's a classic sunk cost decision.  The money I sunk into points is gone, the odds are horrible and I don't want to support the department.

I significantly cut back on the pools that I'm in as well as my kids.  Also quit buying points in certain categories.

I put in for the usual.

The only person who loses by me not putting in, is me.
