Hey I'm trying to sneak in on a couple elk draws and I'm a first time Idaho hunter.  So I just buy my License and tag first ? Then go to submit a control hunt  and pay again? . Also I wanted archery hunt and i know that's another fee but it didn't show it as an option to purchase. I know I have to sign the affidavit saying I've archery hunted in another state before, but then will the archery fee be purchasable ?

Sorry for the confusion just trying to figure out the best way to purchase it all so I don't screw anything up.

Thanks !

:yeah: you can only hold a limited entry tag as a first tag so if you buy a tag before the draw and you end up being successful in the draws you'd have to exchange your tag for the LE tag. It's not difficult just a but of a pain.

You can always look at the tag quotas before buying the tag to decide if you want to go through that hassle. If where you're looking at has a limited quota of OTC tags and not many left, you'd better buy now. If you're backup plan falls under the "All Other Zones" category you're pretty safe waiting to see the draw results before buying the OTC tag. There are units that are draw only for one weapon and OTC for others. So if you're not loyal to the weapon you hunt with it can simplify planning to just when you're going, getting rid of where or if you're going.

Ok, time to start watching IDFG obsessively.  I've shook off my Washington Loser's Lounge hangover and I'm ready for the main event.  I know that the Good Lord didn't let me draw anything in WA this year so I can concentrate on ID...

Maybe we get results for Idaho and Wyoming both on the same day, but I’m guessing it’s next Friday
