Athlon Optics

Anybody have any experience with Athlon optics? Prices are great and from the reviews I see the glass is awesome. Maybe better than vortex. Would love feedback on any of there optics.

I picked up a Argus 2-10x40mm for a little Weatherby Vanguard .223 that I wanted to try out as a coyote calling gun.  The scope is very nice, it is a clearer scope than my Vortex Viper 6.5x20's.  Adjustments were spot on.   I went calling on a ranch in CO, called in a triple in the heavy brush, I was only able to get one shot off but killed a nice large male at 30 yards.  The large FOV on 2x worked perfect in the thick stull.   After the coyote we headed up to the ranch house and there were a few PD's out in the pasture so I cranked it up to 10x, got down on my shooting sticks a proceeded to pot a couple PD's out around 200 yards.

My grandson like it enough to purchase a 3-15x40mm for his AR.  At christmas I got to shoot it and it is just as nice at 15x eye position is a little crittical but not any worse than my Vortex at 20x.  It does not have paralax adjustments but it didn't seem to be a proble but I only shot it to 200 yards and it is on a hunting rig so will only ever get on a high enough power for it to be a problem, if at all shooting longer range PD's for coyote I doubt it will ever get over 10x in the field

Of the two I do like the 2-10 more, it fits my hunting style as most of my coyote calling rifles wear 1-4 or 1.5-6 scopes on thm and my open country coyote rifle has a 2.5-10x40mm Elite 4200 on it.

Cons.

For me and the way I hunt the turrets are a little to tall and being short I use a youth length stock and the scope has a lot of eye relief so I had a little difficulty mounting it fare enough forward.  See Link to picture of it mounted.

I paid $129 for it from Camaraland, it is a heck of a scope for the money.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Make mine a Minaska

Cameralandny has a Midas 2.5-15x50 for 249.99 reg 549.99 right now. For that much money you won’t get hurt trying one out. :twocents:

I have the Ares 4-27.  Its a significant step up from the midas .   Compared head to head with my vx6-hd and could not tell any difference in clarity tho the Ares is about half the price.   Only downside is the Athlon scopes have a narrower eye box / field of view.   Its not as easy to throw up and shoot at higher powers.   The mechanics of the Ares are nice tho.
