What's your favorite .30 rifle

30-06 - most versatile game caliber of all.  Never have needed to track any animal I've shot with one. One shot, one kill.

Another vote for the 30.06 and the 300 Win Mag is right there too.

The new fad, 300 win mag
:yeah:

Great chambering(.300 Win). It’s only been around since 1963. New fad would be better suited for .300 WSM, .30 Nosler , .30-.378(Never been a fan of anything Weatherby), .308-Baer, .300 Ultra. Forgive me for shooting them all. Don’t forget the .308 Norma Mag (1960) there were plenty of converted surplus rifles chambered in the .308 NM.

I was poking some good natured fun at @Stein about it being faddish.  Yeah I have been around a couple old 308 Norma Mags that were some cool old workhorses

Until you have at least one world war under your belt (preferably two) it’s just a fun experiment.

Seems the crowd favorite is the 30/06, with the 300 winchester a distance 2nd. With so many new .30 cal cartridges from the 300 blackout to the 30-378, the '06 still does what it does best. Put meat in the freezer👍

Hopefully that means the vanilla king, .30-06 will remain unrivaled

On a side note, have you found a "hunter pink" hat that will fit your man bun yet?

Can't say I have a favorite. 3006 and 308 are too close to call.

Also like 300 blackout but it serves a completely different purpose.

An old tanger Ruger Ultralight in 308.
Wonderful to carry and reaches out as far as I hunt. I'm no 1000 yard sniper.  Most of my kills are just shy of getting powder burns.
You'll never get a Big'un if you keep shooting Little'un's.

No question, the 30-06. It works from coyotes to elephants and everything inbetween. It is literally the most versatile cartridge ever developed.

I think almost any of the 375s would beat the 30-06 in every conceivable way in every category and actually be legal for every use.
