Should be on the 11th and 12th.   :dunno:  I thought it was always the weekend before the 15th.

I guess it is, this is from the online pamplet:

A youth spring turkey season for hunters under 16 years of age will be held on April 4-5, 2009:
The youth season is open in ALL GMUs.
Standard hunting methods (shotgun or bow and arrow only) and all other turkey hunting regulations apply to the youth season.

You would think that they would make the youth hunt for the 11-12, giving the kids the best oppertunity to get a bird.  4-5 is kind of early :dunno:

Been scouting with the boy.  Got a few Toms scoped out, but on public land.  Gonna be crowded.  He's pumped.  DIdn't get to go last year, he was in Hunter's Safety til the end of April...

My kids enjoyed the hunt, but we struck out! Heard only two toms moving along a ridge...we followed a bit until the birds moved onto private property.....

Then as we sat thinking to wait a few hours and wait and see.....some unscrupulous youth hunter group came tramping thru and had a pump yelper call which they yelped constant non stop for each and every step they took in the woods. Literally, we heard them yelp nonstop for fifteen minutes, until they faded away over a distant ridge. Even both my kids said aloud; "what an idiot...".   I was thinking it must have been a "PETA hunter".

Our plans for my sons last youth hunt got scrapped this weekend. We ended up going to a funeral in Port Townsend instead. Were not too bummed, lots of Turkey season left  :IBCOOL:

We didn't have much better luck that you did Iceman.  We set up Sat under about 50 roosted birds, but when they flew down they landed in a private field we couldn't hunt.  We managed to pull 2 toms in, but they hung up at about 35 yards in the trees and didn't like something so they left.
We tried a "turkey drive" later on that day.  I left my boy with a buddy of mine, and worked my way down the river bottom towards them.  It actually worked, and they had 3 toms come trotting up.  Justin took a shot, but evidently shot right over it's head.

Next morning we hunted with one of my son's buddies from his baseball team.  We had a jake coming straight into the dekes, but the kid we were with couldn't decide if he wanted to shoot a jake.  Finally he decided to let my son take him, so I moved my head to tell Justin it was his bird, and I think the jake saw me move my head.  He stopped (he was still about 40 yards out), stared for about a half minute, and hightailed it out of there.

Oh well... two weeks til the regular season... :)
