Turkey in Wauconda
« on: April 05, 2009, 06:16:47 PM »
My family has property near Wauconda and i have seen turkeys in that area in the fall.  I have never been over there during turkey season though. Does anybody have any success in that area?

Just above Boneabart we have seen a lot of birds this time of year. Also towards Lost lake and down towards Beaver and Beth. LOTS of ticks this time of year, enough to keep me out of the woods in that general area.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

Just like teacherman said...up torado creek out of Wauconda is a good area and over towards lost lake..pretty steep country but thier are birds up in pockets...Bodey Mtn has quite a few..Also try the Strawberry mtn area/Bonaparte Lake Area is good to try....There is a batch over by Mt. Hull and Chesaw theier are pockets of birds.. :chuckle:
Wild Turkey, Walleyes, Whitetails and Wapiti..These are a few of my favorite things!!

Where around Chesaw is there turkeys? :dunno: I see property advertised all the time in that area that says there are turkeys on it but I have not seen any in 20 plus years of traveling through. I will admit I have only really looked the last few years but the back side of Mt. Hull is as close as I have seen them. I see turkeys near Summit lake and Fancher Dam in the summer but not in the spring or fall. I would love to hunt that area for turkey as we do for deer and grouse. Not looking for GPS co-ordinance just a general area. Thanks

I see them up there int the areas you mentioned...The birds have been expanding west more than east in my opinion..there are spots up the Similkameen River with birds now..I have seen birds around Fancher in Spring but that was years ago..Private land off of ninemile holds a few birds too.  They are around I don't hunt up there but I see them like you in Summer.  I know a few guys that hunt up there and there are pockets of birds..

Thanks for the help guys, i have been fishing to most of those lakes and know the area a little. I will do my best to try and find some birds but if i don't i will still be able to enjoy some nice scenery and stretch my legs.  If the turkeys aren't biting i will try for fish.
