talked with a bio the other day, she says to buy bear spray!  She told me last year an employee was attacked by a grizz and it had her by the head!!  She was able to use her bear spray to get it off of her, she recommended spray before a pistol.  Wow! I never heard about that in the news!!

Never heard a peep about a grizz attack.  guess wdfw wanted to keep it quiet huh?
Thats my thought, I was surprised she told me.  Bought my bear spray today, lol

You didn't hear about it because it didn't happen in washington
Id bet this was in reference to the western montana employee attack in the cabinets.

We hunted moose in the drainage she was attacked in last year. Pretty eerie feeling when you see the game department cameras and then start seeing fresh digs and poop all over. We ended up turning around and hunted a different drainage.

My first scouting trip is in the books.  I set out 2 cameras, one that I’m sure will only capture bear photos and the other I feel better about getting moose pics.  Saw a bear within 20 minutes walking behind a gate, I’ve never seen so much bear sign in an area ever!  Saw whitetail deer and saw a decent bull moose!!  This unit is stupid thick, I don’t see many places for a good camp, either wall tent or 29’ trailer.  Still have a lot to learn so I hope I find “the spot “!  Lots of gated roads, which I like.  Hoping to go back in 2 weeks to have help a buddy kill his first bear! Looking forward to this hunt, and thanks to the guys who have given me info.

2nd trip was HOT as heck, still saw 4 cow moose and 1 bull, the same bull as the first trip.  We walked in a gated rd and he was just standing there, beautiful animal.  Saw a cow elk with a couple big growths on her but nice to see elk around for archery season. Didn’t see any bears unfortunately, we were ready this time! Changed my mind about liking all the gated roads, too many of them.  How’s a guy supposed to get an animal of that size out a gated road in a timely manner and in grizzly country? You’d think they would let you drive in to get your moose out!  Anyway, I’d like to thank the guys who have really helped out with this adventure, places to look at and a great place to stay, can’t thank you enough!  Going back in 2 weeks!

I read in a Rinella book that he actually peed on a couple t shirts and left the shirts around the meat while he was rucking the meat pieces out of camp.  He was in thick grizzly country with a lot of fresh grizzly sign and it seemed to work for him.

You could always look at electric fencing as well.

I bet the pee works, had to leave a bull elk over night miles in one time.  We pissed around the area, took a shirt and socks off.  We were in wolf county as well. The next morning we had yote tracks all around our meat in the wet grass, but no meat was taken.  We also drug the gut pile away from the carcass.  I just wish our state could be more like Idaho and be ATV friendly, locked gates but let quads go around them.  And for the guys who want only walk in areas, they have those too.

Last year I left a sweaty shirt on top of a game bag full of elk meat.  Overnight, a coyote drug the meat a few feet but didn't eat any.  He didn't seem to mind the sweaty shirt too much.

@trophyhunt if you still live in BL, I may have a game cart you can borrow if you don't have one.
