Game carts work great on gated roads!  ;)
@trophyhunt if you still live in BL, I may have a game cart you can borrow if you don't have one.
I do, and thank you very much.  Let me see what I come up with, appreciate it.

Thank you!  I'm spending every other weekend over there and a long weekend in September, I'm trying to make the best of it being 7 hours away.  I'm starting to feel pretty good about our chances, I think all the scouting is just getting to know the roads and what gated roads are worth walking.  I know when the rut kicks in everything will change, but I also know that every time I think it's a slam dunk, you get kicked in the jimmy so I am prepared so go the long haul if needed.  If the first two weeks don't work out, I'll be there every other weekend and the last two weeks.  I can't wait!!!

Pulled a couple cards Friday, got the same bull on camera I’ve been seeing, with some deer.  One deer had spots!! How long is the deer pregnancy? Saw a bear that was about 50 lbs, learned some more roads and where not to go, added a lot more scratches to the truck.

It’s normal for fawns to have spots until mid September

Not unusual to see young ones in August, usually last years fawn that cycled and bred late, gestation is about 200 days.  From the fawn size I would guess a she was bred last January.  Thanks for the update!!

Thanks, it’s been really cool getting to know the area and meeting some generous people!   I will love to pass on info for the next lucky few that draw this tag.

Well, just got back from setting up the trailer, a bit of elk hunting and more scouting the 113 unit. My hunting partner and I are not impressed with what we are seeing, we are into the pre rut and only a week or so away from rut action.  We were out before dark and after light, checked all kinds of roads and gated areas, no moose seen at all.  we covered a lot of ground, kinda expected to see moose at this time frame.  I did some mouth calling and electric calling ( if electric calling is illegal please let me know), wa had zero responses.  If anyone has any info on bulls being seen, I'd love to hear about it in a PM, I did get another cow moose on my camera which is good to see.  two more weeks and it's game on!  Did see a skunk, hope that's not a sign of things to come.

Not that you can’t call a moose in any given day of the calendar year, you are a bit early to be getting too anxious.  Sept rut dates are more for Montana and Wyoming or Alaska.   The first week of October is when it starts getting interesting here.   I just saw fresh pics of a big bull still in velvet just yesterday.
