You get one chance to hunt moose in WA and you have A TWO MONTH SEASON! DO NOT SETTLE!!!!!! Hunt your hunt Jerry and if 40 isn't the mark and a single brow isn't the mark then just keep looking.  You can't shoot the bull of your dreams if you shoot a "better than average and good enough".  :twocents:
:yeah:

Not to say you shouldn’t shoot any 40 incher. But wait for the one that makes you jump!
Might be 40 or might be 48.

Go get em Jerry!

I don’t know moose enough to guess good on width, could have been 38.  But, I do know age a bit, that was a young bull but a good one. If I saw a 36” monster, he’s dead!  Took my buddy to the exact same place this am, called for exactly the same time before a bull came in, 1.5 hours.  But this bull was small and never grunted, my buddy who doesn’t have the same amount of time to spend on this hunt was very happy to take this bull.  The look on his face was priceless, we are great friends before we became brother in laws, we lost our father in law this year and this hunt was for Ron. Just a great once in a lifetime experience.  Some won’t understand why you would shoot such a small bull, but like I said he’s damn happy guys!  We had the bull broken down in 1.5 hours, gut less, great looking meat. Spent 8 hours getting him off the 3 mile gated walk in road......ok.. it took that long to get my buddies family up there with the horses, thank God for horses!!  I’ll try to post pics but reception sucks.  I’m still holding out, but now the pressure is on because I know they’ll want to head out soon.  Chris and I cooked back strap on the fire while we waited 8 hours for the horses to show up, mmmm good!! Thank you guys for tagging along, and for the words, it’s humbling for sure!

:fire.:

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield
