HELP! UMTANUM SOUTH YOUTH SHEEP TAG
« on: June 12, 2019, 11:18:55 PM »

   HELLO!  :hello:

I convinced a co-worker to put his son in for all the youth tags possible and behold he drew one of the new youth sheep tags,(Umtanum south)  I've hunted 340 my whole life and played around in 342 for some late elk hunts but never this far down in unit, looking for anyone willing to help out a youth hunter with any info about unit, like access possibility's,  do you have to have a boat to cross river, can you drive to bottom or top of ridges? do they have a feed station like they do in Cleamans unit? his hunt is from Nov.4-Dec-15, The hunter is 12 I believe and in excellent shape he runs 5 and 15k with his mom all the time he runs the mile on flat track in 6.06, so physically we are not worried about him being able to cross ridges and canyons if needed, we have already put feelers out to biologist and game wardens in that area, we both already have Onx maps on our phones and have planned to make multiple scouting trips over to learn the area and hopefully where the sheep like to hang out, I'm assuming they sheep will be like the sheep in the Clemans unit I hunted sheep in there with Coach many years back,  found the sheep seem to stay in same few draws when helping Coach out. So since I egged him into putting his son in for these hunts I am know a guide, pack mule and a camera man.. any and all info would be greatly appreciated......

 THANKS

You don't need help on this one just put in some scouting and boots on the ground to get the most out of the experience and you will do fine

It will take you all of three minutes to find a sheep.  Just enjoy the hunt so it takes longer than pulling the trigger.

PM sent.  I'd be glad to tag along.....  Being late like that I'll be looking for another hunt to go on and this sounds like it could be a fun one.
