Stick with it!! You found a few cows, getting closer. You will find a bull, maybe a little snow headed your way soon!

Time to rally Sage! There’s a Giant right around the corner.

I only saw one cow and a very small bull on private in the six days before I killed the world record.

Keep at it

5 moose, 2 dandies, if you’re still looking I’ll PM you the location/ general area.
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short.

Amen

Thank you everyone.
This morning we went high, old moose tracks and slightly less old wolf tracks. Also there is a layer of fog in just the wrong place making glassing impossible this morning.
I'm leaving to check out the new location shortly and staying till dark.

More moose sign this afternoon but no sightings.
Goofy cloud layer goes up then down all afternoon and seems to hang about the level where the tracks are most prevalent.
Back at it in the morning.

This moose hunting is harder than I thought it would be.
And I officially stink at it.
Planning on getting after it again sometime after this coming Tuesday.
I appreciate all the tips I have gotten, I have tried to check out as many if them as possible,  seems I'm always a couple days or so late getting there  :dunno:

I too had a harder hunt in the kettle. My advice would be not to chase ghosts. Every body tells ya where they have seen a big one or a bull but its not like they stand there and wait for ya to show up and choot them.
Find an area with good sign/habitat and hunt it.  This is what worked for me.

Good advice! That was given to us for a quality elk permit a few years ago. It’s easy for a guy to get too spread out chasing all over the country looking. Again, good luck.

I was in Sage’s shoes last year and on many OIL hunts helping others. It’s always the same. The key is separating good info from bad. You need to be able to read people and it helps to show pics to tipsters to see if they know what a big moose, sheep... really is. We had guys tell us they saw a big moose and would show them a pic of an average bull and they would say “yeah, just like that one”. Still others asked for money for tips...something I won’t do. With do it yourself OIL hunts many people want to help you, but after mapping all the tips I got in the Kettle it turned into a shotgun pattern.

I hope you get lucky Sage. Keep at it til the last minute of light.
