Have you had the tag?
No I wish, however I do have a place in the 101. I see a few specimens from time to time.

First bull on camera this year.  Thought it was a Chupacabra at first glance.   :yike:  Skin and bones and no hair.  Don't think the wolves would touch it.  It survived the winter, maybe has a chance.  :dunno:  GMU 105.  Good luck to tag holders.

Big bull wandering around up between the ends of empire and lundimo. In his velvet he’s bigger than all the ones I saw last year. I’ll see what my trail camera captures in a couple weeks!
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short.

Amen

Do moose hit salt like elk for trail cams or you do  target trails?

They love it.  Theyll lay on a salt site all day.  They seem more interested in it than anything else aside from cattle.

those *censored*s will ruin my deer spots, but its not a big draw for moose. Ive noticed you have to put the salt in a moose bedroom to get them on it. Not like elk and deer where they will travel for it. it only seems to be moose in the immediate area

I spent a couple days scouting the area to get familiar with the road systems and try to figure out what areas to focus on for moose.. Its a huge area and I can see how guys can struggle with so many spots to hunt.. Thanks to many for input and help to shorten the learning curve. I found some spots that look pretty moosey and did see a cow moose one evening.. Set a couple cameras so will see what shows up. Lots of thick timber and beef cows.. Pretty country and fun to spend time in new country..I stimulated the gas station economy in Republic :chuckle:

My step son drew the Tribal North Half tag, actually drew both the North and the South, but selected the North.  I was surprised that the season is only Oct 16- Nov 15, thought that it would be more liberal.  Have a few cameras out.

So what is the area tribal members are allowed to hunt? Is it reservation only or what?  And how many tags do they give out?  THanks and good luck on the hunt..

The tribe gives out 15 tags for the “north half” which is the same boundaries as kettle range. They also give out 40 tags for the rez for rifle and I think 10 archery. My family has pulled a few of them over the years for the reservation.

Interesting. So 15 tribal tags and ten state draw tags and potentially a couple raffle tag hunter could be hunting that area.. It is a big area but with lower moose numbers the last few years I can see why some guys don't kill moose some years.. I assume those tribal tags go to tribal members only ?
