I have the same tag. Have had it before and several of my partners have as well.  Very tough unless you get permission from a landowner.  There is quite a bit of public land but it’s pretty high and not many whitetails. My old man had it last year and settled on a small 4 point last day. If you can get in with a property owner it would be a different story

I always see does up there but hardly any bucks. We’ve killed a couple cross breeds up high. Really cool racks

If you see does up high in November the bucks are there too they aren’t being bread by the wolf’s.

have you watched them breed? Typically a whitetail is pretty squirrelly and mule deer don’t breed them. But a whitetail buck will breed a muley doe.

If you don’t have access to private ground, I’d be looking in 175. Lots of public land down that way. The biggest whitetail buck I’ve ever seen was at the Clearwater guard tower off the road 10 years ago.  Over 5k’. Lots of whitetails up there.  Those blues whitetails in the mountains are different. Low densities but they live up in those higher elevations.

Toughest tag I have ever been on.  Sorry to say that, we had a great hunt but finding Mr. Whitey on public land up in the top will not be easy.

We saw tons of great mulies, sheep, turkeys, eagles, ducks, geese and a great museum, but exactly zero white tail on public.

You can look down a thousand feet or more and see plenty on private by the rivers and creeks.

In my opinion, this should not be a draw tag.
