Mill creek watershed

Got lucky and drew this tag. Just waiting on my packet. Hard unit to scout. Would appreciate any info from past tag holders.

Get in the best shape of your life!  That place can eat a man alive!  Not just physically, it can mentally drain a guy!  But rewards for those that persist!

:yeah: I bet most people don't even hunt this unit when they see it for the first time, I'd start high at the top and hunt from there. But if you have access to horses you can come in from the bottom and hunt up, horses would be a great way to hunt this unit, mostly just for getting in deep everyday and getting your elk out.  even with horses you'll have to do some steep climbing.  Amazing country to see and hunt elk in, very cool tag, just need to work very hard.
“In common with”..... not so much!!

I didn't think you could use stock in there?

The unit has a 25% success rate historically. Lots of tag soup. You can take stock in, there is nothing easy about the hunt. I would say half the tag holders don't get out of their trucks once driving there. The other half hunt to varying levels of success. Snow, fog, wind it all happens at the wrong time. Like said above there is some quality bull in the shed if you can make it happen.

I helped a friend get a bull out of there a few yrs ago from the intake trail.  There were lots of blow downs across the trail in pretty steep terrain along the creek which would make getting stock in there kind of dicey in my opinion.  I would try to reach the guy that patrols the watershed to see if that trail has been cleared recently.

I saw a pack string come up the bottom last year and they were moving right along.  I heard the trail was pretty good.
