Bull elk on cam
« on: June 25, 2019, 10:17:02 PM »

This is the first season I'm going to be trying for an elk - but I've got to say - that big one seems ... big. Maybe they all do. But I wasn't expecting to see one that size this time of year.

Is that a west-side unit?
Or an "any bull"?
If so, good luck!
That is DEFINATELY a nice bull.

Westside. Legal to take (if he's anywhere near there come September).

Out of curiosity, how much more growth do you think he'll have between now and when he sheds his velvet in August?

In looking closely at his antlers, it looks like he's 7 on his left, but an 8th point is looking to break out on his right. How unusual is that?

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Wow, great looking bull!  For a first time elk hunter you seem to know how to scout.  Not only do you know where to find five bulls, but where to find a trophy bull.  Thanks for sharing.  Take us along on your scouting and hunt, please.  Very interesting to know how this turns out.

Huge bull. Definitely a westside bull of a lifetime. My opinion only, but I don't think he'll grow too much more. Maybe a little bit more on the back end.
The bulls I've had on cameras(it's been a few years) were just about as big as they were going to get by mid July.

Do you have some salt or something on the ground there?
