Montana antelope?
« on: April 23, 2019, 04:34:25 PM »
With just a quick skim thru regs. I have a few questions.

If drawn is it good for whole state or do you have to specify specific areas?

Along with areas.  Any areas or units to concentrate on?
I have only hunted areas that we mule deer hunt. Elk once. So not to familiar with antelope areas.

Any input would be awesome.

I struck out on deer tags but antelope has always been on my list.

You have to pick a unit. As far as areas to concentrate on -anywhere east of the mountains  :chuckle: . There was some fear about the 700 units last year and winter kill but my son and I hunted that general area and killed 2 nice bucks 1 day hunting.

There is no general tag, for most of them you pick a unit.  There are a few good in multiple units like the 900-20 archery tag and the 700 series tags.

I think 380 is mostly private? Might have my units mixed up but if it’s the one I think will need some connections to get access. I used to hunt 620 a lot 20 plus years ago it was good back then for sure. I am sure things might have changed a little  :chuckle:

I put in but only have 3 points. Hoping to pull the tag that I killed the buck in my avatar again, we will see how lucky I am.

Don't underestimate winter kill.  PathfinderJR and I drew tags in the 700 back when they had the big winter kill in 2011.  We ate both tags.  Hunted 4 days, only saw one herd of antelope.  A mile away and running like hell.
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

having only hunted over there once last year for them thats crazy. They were everywhere last year, literally just drove around looking for one in a good place to stalk.

I believe your statement though, they seem quite fragile and susceptible to tough conditions
