New arrow question
« on: June 29, 2019, 02:13:56 PM »
I had my bow restrung and am switching arrows to carbon fiber. I bought some arrows when the string was installed but want to switch to arrows that are easier for me to see. I was thinking of using Easton full metal jackets. My question is if I buy arrows, are they ready to install a point & shoot, or do they require some work on the arrow- cutting, etc.?

They'll need to be cut to length and inserts glued in if you're not set up for that anyplace you buy them will do that for you

Depends on a lot of stuff. But if you want new arrows just to see em better why not get new fletching or do a arrow wrap with new fletching? I do my arrows myself so I dunno what a place charges but it can’t be much. I can do an arrow in a few minutes. Right now I’m doing a pink and black wrap with turkey and pink feathers for a recurve on plain Jane black shafts. Can see em 50 yards away in the dirt and cost me $20.

But yes, with new arrows you usually need to cut to length and glue in the insert. I think a lot of places offer that service when you buy them.
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short.

I never heard of an arrow wrap, I’ll look into those. I need to get arrows anyway because the Beman ics I got when the string was installed are dark colored and I’ve lost 1/2 of them because I can’t see them laying on the ground unless I pretty much step on them.

An arrow wrap is just what it sounds like.
You remove the fletching and wrap the end of your arrow then refletch.
You can put bright ones on to help you see arrows and is very easy to do

These are spray paint with a spray on minawax poly over top. Works for carbons and fletch tape works to hold the fletching. I use beman ics too now and just a basic white wrap with 2 pink feathers really shows up. But hot pink is my favorite for visibility!

I picked up a box of Easton full metal jackets. Looking forward to getting tuned up for Idaho elk this year.

Definitely some high KE killers and if you lose any just get a metal detector!
