Mistaken for game hunting incidents

Hi All,
My name is Karl Bridges. I am coming to the end of doing a PhD in Mistaken-for-game incidents. I have the honour of being accepted to present at a world leading conference in Seattle.

Rather than just spend my time mingling with my peers and stuffing as many vol-a-vents in my mouth as I can handle, I figured it would be good to share what I have done with the people that matter.

I have already reached out to to Conservation NW - who so far have not replied and also Washington Dept of Fish and Wildlife. I have also, in the past reached out to IHEA and also the authors of Blood on the Leaves with not much success - am I doing something wrong?

If you guys want to know a bit more about what I have been doing for the past few years feel free to take a look at www.theroar.org.nz . I will admit it is on my company page and this is is no way an attempt to solicit customers, I just want to meet and share what I have learnt.

If no reply, I will stuff vol-a-vents and enjoy my stay, no harm done.

So I visited your site. It showed who you talked and worked with, but most of those folks are not known to us. The only one that jumped out at me was the IHEA because I got my Archery certification from them.

Yeah the organizations are based in New Zealand so it is not surprising that they are unknown.

I am not representing any specific organisation other than the university I am studying at. But certainly have their full support.

I just figured I would share the knowledge,  see how it compares to the US hunting experience with no expectation of anything in return.

Perhaps I didnt find the right spot on the page, but what were the results? Take aways, lessons learned from the study and anylasis?

Some of the earlier parts of my study are there and downloadable but I am still writing reports and should have a pretty good suite of findings in time for the conference, which is at least 3 months away.

If you wouldnt mind posting your final findings after your conference, i would certainly like to read further. This post has been read 515 times as I reply, so i imagine others are interested as well.

Human Factors and Ergonomics Society Annual Meeting 2019.

I will be posting out the information when it comes available and in a way not to infringe copyright - it seems peer reviewed journals want their pound of flesh nowadays.

Whilst my attendance is not confirmed as it all depends on budget the offer is out there if anyone wants to meet face to face - also willing to travel and would not expect you guys to travel into the city.

I am also reaching out to some of the organisations since we last talked. I used to work closely with the NZ Deerstalkers Association as they were helping with a small bursary but that has finished now. So I am currently trying to find an new .... affiliation. I suspect saying I work in academia is like as appealing as getting your balls waxed! Sorry for being crass if this offends anyone.

I would be very interested in reading you report/thesis etc. at the appropriate time. Have not touched a scoped rifle in many years due to several bad experiences and countless other stories of "hunters" who have no business whatsoever being in the woods during rifle season.

Awesome! I have had a few private messages to meet up too. How about I let you guys know when I am around and maybe we can all grab a beer, or make it something more formal, whatever works. Just waiting on the conference organisers to let me know what I will be doing at the conference and what day. Once this is through I can then potentially confirm dates.
