Propane forge
« on: March 30, 2019, 11:37:02 PM »
Okay so I almost have a good setup. Just need to figure out the air and fuel mixture. I can get it to around 18 to 1900 degrees I hope to see at least 2150. I put 2” of Cerafelt 2 coats of satanite and bricks on the bottom. It sure eats the propane though. I think I am going to find old bbq or steel table to modify so I can close the door with bricks.

Good Job.
Any details on the burner build and the two propane hoses?  What is the pressure on the regulator in the photo?
Thanks
It never changes, but it is always different.

I don’t know much about the burner. I picked this stuff up at a garage sale. I had to find stuff to insulate it and put it together. The red hose is air from a compressor, Black is propane. I think the pressure gauge is on the wrong side I am going to try moving it up by the burner. In the pile I purchased was theses scary tubes that I have not used. If I can’t get a high temperature I might try one l just don’t understand what their purpose is. The pictures might help. I don’t know what size hole is up inside the burner.

Flame looks good but 10 psi is a bit low in my experience.  Get an adjustable regulator you can get to 20psi. Get some fire bricks to close up the front some.  Should be able to get 2600

Bright dragons breath is due to forge welding. Borax makes for a very yellow flame
