kings in roosevelt
« on: July 01, 2019, 10:35:09 AM »
Anyone hear if they planted some kings in lake Roosevelt? I caught one and know another guy that got one last week up at kettle. I'm pretty sure we lost another one also but it could have been a big rainbow. I know there have been a few caught over the years down by the Spokane arm but to see a couple in a few days and that far up river seems odd.

Caught one in there last year while trolling for Kokanee. No idea how they get in there...

They come down the Spokane river from Lake Cour d elene as fry and grow up in Lake Roosevelt. We've caught one in 15 years of fishing--about 6 pounds--. I did an article on two guides out of the Seven bays area and they told me they had caught them up to 17 pounds and hooked some that spooled them. One of the guides was Big Reds Guide Service and I don't remember the other guys name. Back about 2004 or 2005.
Thanks for all for your past support...We officially pulled the plug and have retired from the Biz. Still dabble a little in real estate.

I caught one 25 years ago in the spokane river about 15 mi downstream of Post falls. I am pretty sure last year I read a article how they were trucking some salmon and steelhead around grand coulee to study travel patterns in connection with the study they are doing to get fish around grand coulee and to figure out potential hatchery locations above the dam

in phase 2 of this article it talks about moving salmon to study. I read a article that was shared on facebook about how they moved salmon around last year I cannot find a link to it
