All tan coyote?
« on: July 03, 2019, 10:31:15 AM »
I am sitting at my desk and just outside of the front porch is an all tan coyote. Head to tail. Is this coloration unusual?

If it is actually completely tan not just furred out yet, yes it is pretty rare.

I saw one coloured like a golden retriever, saw him twice while coyote hunting and didn't pull the trigger because I thought it was someone's bird dog until it turned and bailed out it was during pheasant season out in the Desert Wildlife area..  Thick sage country so there was no shot after he bailed.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Make mine a Minaska

Where do you live?  Most coyots look like crap rite now, most likely this coyot has rubbed off its winter coat and your seeing the beginning of a new coat starting.  Lol
I provide a service to cattle ranchers year around that have problem coyotes.  I also provide guided night hunts year around. I sell Night Vision and Thermal optics. The scopes I use are the NVision Halo XRF and Pulsar Merger XL50 LRF HD Binoculars

A few hundred yards from Puget Sound.
Yesterday, it looks like he jumped over a 4 foot high gate into the back yard.
I think he was checking out the heron in neighbor's back yard. It is plastic, but looks real enough.

The coyotes on the west side of the state are browner even in January/February at least the ones ive been able to call in. Seems they get more gray silver once you are in or east of the Cascades.

With notes here about the mess bullets make, I am taking my 270 and using solid bullets. No fragmentation.
