Is it just me, or is your website down?

I was thinking about trying some calling this year. Do you have any suggestions for good instructional books?

Rick. Photobucket is a paid subscription based hosting site now. You have to pay to use it. It’s not the forum that’s causing your issues. If you want to send me some photos I’m happy to post them for you.

Any more tips for calling bears? I’ll be using a electric predator caller.

This is what has worked well for me, so far I have called in 16 bears over the years.  I like a raspy call.  I have some really nice calls from Bearmanric and Rainshadow that have called in bears.  My highest percetage spots always have very fresh bear sign, but i do a lot of cold calling as well.  I like to set up with some protection from behind as I usually call by myself.  i like to start of with a medium level, not too loud but not ever so quiet.  I have had a couple of bears show up very quickly after I started so I know they were probably bedded nearby.  I like to put a watch out in front of me because calling for an hour "seems" much longer.  I call non-stop and I really try to put the emotion and pain into the calling.  Something is either caught and dying or is being eaten and dying and I try to convey that pain and anguish in my calling.  I've never had much luck with an electric caller, but that is just me and I think it is more of a confidence thing.  I know the mouth call works and so that is what I like to use.  When you get done calling don't just jump up to move to the next spot.  Twice I have stood up and spooked a bear that was standing near by.  Normally if I hear the bear coming in it ends up being a bigger bear.  They don't care about how big what is eating whatever is screaming, they are going to come in and take over.  Most of my small to mid-sized bears are just suddenly standing there, they slip right in, not wanting to charge right in and get their butts kicked.  I will say I have not called enough in wolf country yet to see if even the bigger bears are more cautious due to the wolves, but I suspect they may sneak in as well.
