.257 Weatherby Mark V

I have a .257 Weatherby Mark V, but cannot seem to get a good group with it.  Anyone have a similar rifle that have found a load that has shot well through it?

Best tightest groups I ever got were from some reloads I got when purchased the rifle Barnes tsx not sure of weight as I did not reload them
Factory ammo I have been shooting partion 120s and I am confident in the gun and myself but groups could be tighter also
Also a MK V owner and I had the barrel cut down 3 inches and re-crowned
Try the Barnes and let me know if you work up a good load
Id be interested in how that works out for you as I do not reload

I've never seen a .257 WTBY that didn't shoot well until the barrel had been shot out. Most shoot well with any bullet I've tried. If your gun has been shot much perhaps the barrel has fouling? Is it a new gun or used, how many rounds through the barrel?

It’s a new gun.  I think I have 36 rounds through it.

I've had real good luck with the Barnes 100 gr. TSX and TTSX.  Quarter sized groups at 100 yds.  Have also tried the 115 gr. Ballistic Tip and had pretty good results with those also, but going with the TTSX this year. Pretty wicked little bullet. Shooting a MKV Lightweight.
Weatherby ammo.  I don't reload.

For reloads I've had the best results with the 100 grain TSX bullet and RL22 powder.

For factory ammunition try the 100 grain Spire Points. If they won't shoot close to 1 MOA I would send the gun to Weatherby.

I reached out to Weatherby to see what information they may offer.  I am up for trying some re-loads as I have a bunch of brass for it that I picked up.

Ok wow, I'm not sure what to offer! Have you tried factory loads, I think WTBY guarantees.99 MOA or better with their ammo.
I've shot Barnes, Hornady, and Sierra bullets and they all shot well, better than the guarantee, the caliber has been easy to reload for us. I'm curious what WTBY will have to say.

We are constantly finding faulty mounting or faulty scopes on hunter's rifles that miss animals. Perhaps you have issues with the mounts, bases, or scope? Loose bases or rings, broken or cheap scopes are the usual causes?

Pressure pad on stock? I always sand them off on weatherby's

Action screw torque? Barrel free floated? Yo just have to inventory all possibilities until you eliminate the problem. Also have someone else shoot a group. Use a sled  to eliminate user error

Possible.  I have the Zeiss Z-800 optic on it.  I will have to check them out, thought they were mounted pretty solid.

We shot it on a sled.  I shot my Tikka T3 right after that and had 3 shot group under a nickel.  All my rifles are very accurate as I am a competitive shooter.  It's just this gun that I have ran into this issue with.

I've seen some not-so-nice bedding jobs on that rifle. You can work on it but might void the Weatherby accuracy guarantee. I'd be inclined to send it to Weatherby.
