Mineral Lake
« on: March 31, 2009, 08:05:12 PM »
Anyone have any info on trout fishing this west side lake ? Best to troll or still fish from my boat ? Would like to try it after the opening day crowd is done. Maybe late May or early June before it gets hot.
Can't we all just get along?

Troll a weding ring with a maggot  :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:

Works great.................

Power bait from the resort pier, or next to the boat launch, allways produces some big ones on the opener.

First few weekends after the opener are busy (as well as the opener), as for camp ground, the Lions club runs it.
If you want to avoid the crowds, go during the week.

Is this a deep lake ? What type of fish are there ? I've heard alot about this lake and would like to try it. I like to troll and my wife likes to still fish. So I guess I'am scouting it out to make some spring and summer plans close to home this year.

GO, fish it and have fun.......

It is planted with Rainbows and Germen Browns. The lake has some deep areas, and every way to fish will be succssful. the later the season the less fish there is to have. It is know for many fish over 5 lbs and even over 10lbs.
I got a 7.6lb rainbow on the opener in 2005. By biggest trout to date.

On opening day you don't need a boat to get to the other side just jump from boat to boat ;) after a couple weeks there's a fewer people though it is a good time though

O yeah, when the water warms up you can get crawdads.

The resort puts "bacon" out in front of the pier to lure crawdads to the area.

the last two years on opening weekend has not been that crowded at all. actually its been relaxing and fun there is ton's of room on the lake. but who knows that could be different this year.

Elksnout, here is a topo of the Mineral lake, It is a beautiful lake to fish if the crowds are down. Usually after the opener.
