60 vs 80 objective spotting scope

looking into spotting scope was wondering if there is a big difference between the two thanks.

If carrying in a pack you will be debating when to carry the 60 or not. The larger one will find a lot of excuses to stay in the truck.   If not packing then get the 80 or 95.

Good 15x binos on a tripod are a lot eadier to look through, especially for any long period of time.  And you can determine shooter or non shooter just fine from quite a distance.

a few good points but disagree if you can determine shooter from quite a distance. Never looked through a pair of binocs of an animal at 2+ miles away and could determine if it was a shooter or not. Big swaro spotter comes in nice to be able to verify if it’s worth going after or not.

I have an 80 and it’s gigantic and I kinda hate packing it. I do pack it but it’s really big.

The objective on an 80mm has nearly 80% more surface area than a 60mm. That means that everything else being equal is it brighter. Everything being equal it is also larger, heavier and more expensive.

I have both and end up taking the 60mm most of the time, even when just using it from a vehicle. Go figure.

I got a 60 just due to having to carry it. Weight and bulk is a big issue especially if you’re trying to fit it in your pack. Here’s a pic I got from my 60 at 350 yards

For carrying a 60, for looking through an 80. I had the pleasure of looking at mule deer bucks through a swaro 65 & vortex razor 85 in the Wyoming high country last year. Optically I much preferred the razor with the bigger objective & more zoom. If weight & size are the biggest determining factor then it’s an easy decision to live with the optical resolution & zoom the 60-65 provides.
