Hunters Orange for Spring Bear?
« on: March 31, 2009, 09:37:30 PM »
I was one of the lucky to draw a spring bear tag and was wondering if I need to wear hunters orange.  I looked over the regulations and could not find anything.  The only thing I found was:

"Anyone hunting in an area that is open for modern firearm deer
or elk hunting must meet hunter orange requirements if they are
hunting any of the following species: Bear, Bobcat, Cougar, Coyote,
Deer, Elk, Fox, Grouse, Hare, Rabbit, or Raccoon."

With this I am thinking that I do not need to wear orange since modern firearm for deer and elk is not open.  Can anyone give me some insight to this.  Thanks in advance.

Funny, but sick too...!

I say it cause when I first started bear hunting a few years back, I wore my typical black hat...never thinking of it...till my brother who had hunted black bears before, and just noticed it (being outside the box) said, "you probably want to avoid black"...I felt like a dumb ass..but it was my hat I wore everyday...I just didnt think of it.  :chuckle: :bash:

Yeah I could see that not being a very good choice but I really doubt I will anyone else hunting the area I will be in.  There will only be 10 of us in the entire unit with tags and it is in the middle of no where but there is that chance.  I will make sure to not wear black though.

Yeah I guess if you put it that way.  I probably will run into someone else knowing the people that are around that area...

I got the Kelly Hill Unit up north of Colville.  It was my first choice so pretty excited to get up there and start scoping it out..

Ya i would say you have a pretty good chance in that area... The snow should be pretty sparse on those southern exposures... Good luck  ;)
