I hadn’t seen him in person until I shot him.  I set up on the timber edge about 3:00 in a high traffic area.  At 4:06, a doe fed out and down the draw.  2 minutes later, he stepped out on her trail.  He was ultra alert, about 225 yards away.  I actually started shaking when I saw him, which hasn’t happened in a looooong time.  Made me smile as I lined him up and told myself to knock it off.  I was actually surprised that he was a slick 4.  I shot him pretty quick once I saw his body size/frame.

Congrats on your awesome adventure. It is so rare to get to go on a hunt & have the woods to yourself & not have other hunters chasing the same critters.  Always look forward to reading about your hunts.
