Learning taxidermy
« on: November 19, 2007, 06:03:48 PM »
so i have for the last couple years been really interested in taxidermy and decided this year that i was going to start practicing. I want to speciallize in birds but do everything else as well.

I am asking that if there was anyone else out there that might have had the want to do this also and didnt keep up on it or someone that might have a few extra might have some old videos and books or magazines if they might be willing to donate to me or maybe offer to a price that i just cant say no to.

i have looked at several places online but dont have the coin to fork over for something i am just starting. not at the moment. i am very excited about this and really want to continue with this so all your guys help is needed. if you think you might be able to help then just give me a holler and i would more than greatly appriciate it. And again, thanks  guys..............................AJ

Not a whole lot of taxidermists I have met like to, or do birds or waterfowl.  I would say their is a pretty good demand for Birds and Waterfowl in this area.  If you did only birds and you got good at it, you would probably bring in more than you know what to do with!

Look at:

WASCO Taxidermy Supply

www.taxidermy.com

McKenzie Taxidermy Supply

www.mckenziesp.com

Befor you get started I think you should be aware that this is not something you can pick up in just a few months and hope st start a full time buisness.  It is deffinatly not a cheap hobby to get into either.  Just take your time and learn as much as you can.  This is a good place to get answers to some of your MANY questions.

Thanks michelle. yah like i said before this is something that has sort of had my intrest for a couple years now and i only have one book and what i have read online. I am taking it nice and slow but yes i am 24 and am thinking for the future. I am in the service and get stationed all over and meet people that love to hunt all over and that has been one of my biggest regrets is not getting more of my animals Taxi'd. and if i feel that way i can only imagine other people felt that way but at first i am only going to do it for myself and then i will do immiediate friends. not for huge profits or any at all. but for cost. more so that i can learn how to do it.

I just want to say thanks again michelle because this is something that i am very excited about and really want to succeed at doing. Thanks for the sites and pointers..............AJ
