Tucannon
« on: July 23, 2019, 10:07:30 PM »
I’ve been scouting the Tucannon with my cousin who told me about this forum. We have hiked the Teepee T.H a couple of times up to the fire look out and went towards Rattlesnake. Also checked out the West Butte Ridge and checked out Emergency Spring. We went to the Panjab and also checked out Mt Misery T.H which will be are next hike this week. Just looking for any pointers or possible spots to check out. We will keep going over and finding out as much as we can learn before season. Any help would be appreciated it’s big country.

You are in the right areas, elk are in all those places. Mostly depends on where you want to camp and how far in you want to hunt while being able to get your elk packed out . Come Sept you will hear bugles anywhere you've been. Probly be a few archery tag holders in there likely but its a big area. Good luck its a great tag and glad your putting in the time scouting for it. Would like to know if anyone knows who has a tucannon muzzie tag?

That country is so weird it seemed void of any elk sign up top even at the headwaters of panjab and emergency springs where there was water.  I didnt see a single elk track.  they must be halfway between the top and bottom.  We also ran over to the lick creek side as well. That rd that runs to misery mt.  looks good. I could picture us hearing bulls from the rd but who knows.  If anybody has any particular ridges or basins as to where to start that would be awesome.  We need planA, B, and C.

They sleep on openings or ridge tops at night then live their life in the halfway spot like you talked about . Just sneak around on the trails, side hillingchilling and you will run in to some elk guaranteed.  The big old bulls early in the season bugle from their beds, lazy asses wont even get up til your 20 yards away.

I have a muzzy deer tag. Does that count? They're almost elk.
