Where to go bear hunting?
« on: August 16, 2019, 09:24:01 PM »
Anyone have any good ideas on where to go bear hunting around central WA??? You can be specific or vague as you want. Just asking for a general area. Would like to get my wife her first bear... thanks fellas!
But love of the wilderness is more than a hunger for what is always beyond reach; it is also an expression of loyalty to the earth which bore us and sustains us, the only home we shall ever know, the only paradise we ever need - if only we had eyes to see.

So not ragging on you.....kisss.....not kiss...kisss. keep it super simple. Hunt the feed. Where and what are they feeding on. Hunt there and get her on a bear.  ( yes i know there is on s missing ). Hunt the feed.

Like already said hunt the feed. I have filled both my tags but still trying to get my brother back over to fill his, so I can’t quite give you the GPS coordinates. . Stick it out cause you can’t get one sitting on the couch. I did fill both my tags but I was out hunting every day for the first two weeks except for two days. Some of the days were just evenings after work but I was still getting out there every minute I could.Unlike deer and elk the bears are up and moving regardless of the heat. Killed most of mine mid day in 90-100 degree temps, right when most guys would think it’s time for a midday break in some ac somewhere.

General question on central WA bear habitat. I know the Westside it’s all about the timber and clearcuts. Do you need to get up into the hills in Central WA too? I just always assumed you didn’t look for them in the sagebrush.
If man was not supposed to eat animals, God wouldn't have made them out of meat.

They can be in the sagebrush but not often in my experience. They like cover to escape to ie thick brushy draws, deep dark timber, find areas like that away from pressure with berries and a water source and you will find bears. Problem is you have to be patient because in the perfect habitat it’s impossible to see them until they decide to get up and move around.
