What kind is it, I mean I am not familiar with the shape.....Slate?

Bone...sorry, to answer your question more completely.....it's a pot call showing pictures of the bottom with sounding holes and sides.  Did not have a picture of the top, which in this case is crystal over a glass sounding board.  However,it could be any surface such as a piece of slate over slate, glass over slate, etc.  Hope that clears it up.....

Rick...thanks for posting.  How does it look finished....real light looking like in the photo...and how did the crow call turn out that you made for Tim?  Is that piece big enough for a crow call?

yes it ie 3 1/4. sand's out smooth like osage. very light in color. you can see the tree ring's not sure if they will show up like the osage. been around 4 year's or longer. i see a little color in the blank. Tim was very happy.Rick
