Should I laugh or cry?
« on: August 22, 2019, 02:15:51 PM »
Speaking of double guns, once you start with an O/U, the itch will lead you to trying a SxS.  Once you try a SxS in the field, everyone I know stays with SxS’s.  They are light, and just swing so dang nicely when the are built right. For grins, I’m always watching a few different websites for the next amazing deal.  A few weeks ago I came across this sweet little 6lb 2oz 16 bore from Birmingham, England (the worlds best shotguns are made in England).  I sent my Father In Law a text with a link just for grins, stating it was a good thing his daughter and I needed a couch and landscaping for our new house, otherwise I’d by it.  I didn’t hear back from him about it, which was kinda strange.  Today, while talking to him on the phone while we planned our blue quail hunt in New Mexico, he mentioned the gun.  Turns out the jerk bought it! 🤣🤣.  I’m not sure if I should be happy for his great find, or pissed that Im going to be jealous of him when he’s carrying it the field for blue quail?

Don't worry. It probably has a poorly made Damascus barrel that he doesn't know about. Just don't stand next to him when he fires it.

Problem is English Damascus isn't poorly made.  He has a really nice Damascus gun that’s been proofed, and the above gun was proofed at 900 BAR, so it’s very safe to shoot. Those Brits do shotguns right.

Buy him some of those short legged golfer looking pants and long plaid socks to go with his fancy gun. Tell him he needs to look the part if he’s gonna carry that ugly SxS gun in the field. :chuckle:

Be happy it's in the family!  Greatly increases your odds of holding, shooting and maybe one day owning it.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

He might be planning to give it to you for a surprise.  In any case, be happy it's in the family.

When you see it in person and he let's you hold that baby in your hands, give it a good long look and then lick it.  He'll be so grossed out that he'll just let you keep it. :chuckle:
