Thanks for the welcome Linxx77!
I went solo, back to the same spot I was at 2 weeks ago and got 2 with my bow. My very first turkeys ever.
I have another 2 tags to fill, but hopefully that’s not an issue since I have quite a spot now and TheStovePipeKid said Nov should be good. I might be hooked on turkey hunting.
I must have counted 200 birds in one day on this guys land out east. They walked past my blind heading to a cow pasture to look for clover, seeds/insects in the cow dung. I just hung out sipping hot drinks until they got within range and took the two I came home with. One on Sat and one on Sun, both before 9 am.
Was a long time to be in the blind, but worth it. I could hear them in the roost early morning, and the calls got louder and louder as they walked up behind me. The first group stayed 60 yds from the blind and kept their distance as they walked out across the field. The 2nd group was 20-30 yards and that’s when I got my first one. It was the same story the second day. I would have had a 3rd, but she was closer than I thought. I missed her by a feather's thickness and saw my broadhead cut 3 wing feathers. Hard to range through the screens on my blind.
I got some great meat off them and will be having buttermilk fried turkey strips for dinner and the some tacos with the leg and thighs. A few self critiquing mistakes on ranging, learned a few lessons about waiting at full draw and def need to practice at home on a 3d with different distances. I took 3 shots that were perfect left and right, but fell short due to poor distancing on my part....But def a good weekend overall. Glad to hear about others success here too. Seen some helpful tips!
