Limb splinter

Yesterday after a round through my ranges 3d course I noticed I had a splinter on the lower limb of my bow. Its a decent sized one, located on the outside edge of the lower limb. From what I have read, it's a common fix to clip the splinter, sand the affected location smooth, and super glue the spot. I'm leaning towards attempting to mitigate any further damage by fixing it, and keeping an eagle eye on it and hope it gets me through the season. That being said, the idea of a bow blowing up in my face doesn't really excite me. Anyone ever dealt with this type of issue? I've contacted the manufacturer(Martin Archery) just to see what support they might be able to offer, but don't expect an email back for a few days. I've been looking around a bit in hopes of maybe scoring a used bow of similar model and scrounging the limbs off it. It could be the age of the bow, or the make/model itself because I haven't had much luck. Any tips, tricks or advice is greatly appreciated! The bow is a LH Martin Bengal for those curious. Will attach pics of the splinter.

I had an almost exact match to your splinter on my Mathews a few  years ago. Did exactly as you described , clipped it at the base, sanded, and a dap of gorilla glue as sealer. All was well for 3 more seasons of heavy shooting until I sold it last yr. I think you’ll be fine fixing it.

Hoyt’s used to do it too. Clip it, sand it and glue it. Should be just fine. Always look your bow over before you shoot it to be safe.

Clip it sand it should get you through the season but I'd be looking for a new set of limbs.

Take it to the bow shop where you purchased it and ask what you should do. They just might recommend a warranty replacement and you get a new bow or at least new limbs.

Martin had a huge problem with this for a few years. They are typically good about fixing it.

I wouldn't put a lot of faith in getting it fixed by Martin through official channels. They don't have much stock from before the fire and last year put out a statement that they weren't taking responsibility for the Martin products produced with either former owner (the Martin family or the owners that liquidated). That said, Mike Bush on the facebook martin page seems really customer oriented and he might have or know where a person could get a limb.

Your not “fixing it” by cutting it off. but it’s not to bad of a splinter and you should be fine at least for the season. I had a pse that split exactly like that. After the season I went and got new limbs for free under warranty from my local dealer.
