Bear age
« on: September 21, 2019, 05:57:51 PM »
I sent in my bear tooth in the spring after harvest. What’s the turn around from others who have experience? Pick is of my bear from my local unit.
Thanks

A couple months after the season ends.  They stockpile all the teeth and then do them all at once.

I sent mine to them  late in November last year and it still says results not returned from lab. Says estimated time of 8-10 months.

What are you supposed to do when the bear is old enough that all of his premolars are completely ground down and unpullable with just gums where teeth are supposed to be?  Uhhh...asking for a friend...

They cut the root of the tooth I believe so if he can cut the gum back far enough to dig it out it should work

Send them picks of the gums, then tell them it’s ancient.🤣

I sent mine in a few years ago.  I didn't know there was info  under your Wa wild id number and you can look up the age and info from the tooth.
