I'm sorry to say that this will lead to the demise of that bull in addition to several others who get knocked down while road hunters are looking for him.  I always has confused me how a people who preach the sanctity and honor of wildlife and the right to harvest them, go on to claim native hunting rights over a non native species in non traditional hunting grounds.  And then how do they honor the sacrafice of their brother the elk/deer, by make jerky and sell commercially.  And corrrect me if I'm wrong, isn't the Arther Coffin Game Reserve supposed to be off limits to all hunting?  Seems to be several stories of witnessed bulls coming out of the reserve.  WTH?  Sorry, very frustrating to be out bow hunting and have someone driving around with Rifle slaying big bulls from the road.
:yeah: :yeah: :yeah:  we have a petition going on Facebook about this subject.  As long as we don’t get rude, racist, or demeaning, this post should stay unlocked!!!!!   18 bulls in one day by the natives off the reserve, sign the petition to help draw attention to this BS!  This isn’t about tribal rights, it has nothing to do with the treaty. Private property was donated to the state in agreement that no one could hunt on the property. It is frowned upon even by the tribe and those members that have respect don’t hunt there. But a few bad apples that have a chip on their shoulder do. Let’s gets as many signatures as possible.
18 bulls in one day? Jesus. Where's the link to the petition? I'm very curious to hear more about this.

What I find interesting is that ya'll are talking about this bull like its the only giant one on the mountain...….Colock, or any other elk area.  ;)

It was my understanding this was the last elk in the atate? Until this thread I didn't know Washington had any elk let alone big ones?

Now that the secret is out and the public knows the colokum has some big elk in it maybe it'll take away some of the pressure rinella put on the blues when he clued us all in that there were big elk there last year.

I have been educated-I was struggling with all the flack the op was getting for posting a bull in a controlled hunt area. I didn't see the harm with limited tags and a big area. Not having been there I didn't realize the natives could slaughter them. Makes perfect sense now to maybe post the photo but no way any kind of location ever. I wonder if someone could confirm for a fact the bull was killed by a native?

Were all native hunters unaware there were elk in the unit? I find it hard to believe they were all sitting at home waiting for someone to post a picture on the internet to remind them there were elk to be had

I believe that certain people patrol these sites to see what they can find without looking. It has happened in other areas with elk and Mule Deer.
That’s my  :twocents:

I agree they weren't all surfing the net to find out if there were any big elk there. I felt that way too but I do think the picture probably intensified the pressure and urgency to kill the bull. In a true controlled hunt I don't think the location would matter that much  but when you have a group that can hunt unregulated its not a good idea. Its not my fight anyways just following because its interesting.

Been hearing lots of reports lately of wolves using the internet to find out where all the big bulls are hangin out.  :dunno: :chuckle:
“Under no pretext should arms and ammunition be surrendered; any attempt to disarm the workers must be frustrated, by force if necessary.”

If you are not willing to die for freedom then take the word out of your vocabulary.
