muzzle loader eastside Tiger Mountain Legal?
« on: October 04, 2019, 05:59:31 PM »
Ok, I have contacted the local game warden regarding the legality of hunting with a muzzleloader on Tiger Mt West of hwy 18. Jason is a great guy and stopped to help with a roadkill salvage I was attempting to take but the meat was questionable. He is busy guy this time of year so I figure I would see if anyone has Muzzleloader hunted on the eastside of Tiger Mt. Aka the westside of highway 18. Thanks Jason

I’m assuming you’re talking about this area in the Tiger Mountain state forest. Are you familiar with that area and the use it gets? Tons of hiking and mountain biking going on there. Trails everywhere. Legal or not, and different strokes for different folks, but I’m not sure that’s somewhere I’d want to be hunting.

You can get away from the crowds with a bit of effort, especially after September. I used to mountain bike in a couple miles and then go off-road.

Here is the King County no shooting map. https://aqua.kingcounty.gov/gis/web/VMC/boundaries/NSArea_Map.pdf

I would have a couple of printed copies of this map on me if I were to hunt that area because a Sheriff's deputy could have heard from one of his buddies that you can't hunt there and get real pissy if they contact you about it. Having this map to show them would help alleviate any issues.

Here is the actual written county laws about the exact locations of no shooting areas. You'll need to scroll down to 12.68 No shooting areas. All of the descriptions deal with Sections and Townships. If you aren't already familiar with them, sections and townships are a way of creating boundaries in the US that don't follow any state, county or city lines, everything is just broken up into a large grid. If you go into Onx maps you can switch on a sections layer.

....and since this topic comes up every year, you can use the search function, type in "Tiger Mountain" and read a bit more (if you still have questions)

Perfect, I was looking to print out something to show someone if the issue comes up. Enforcement or hiker.
