111 wolf encounter
« on: October 16, 2019, 02:43:49 PM »
Ran into a pack of 5 wolves out Aladdin last Friday while scouting around the day before the muzzie elk opener. It's a cell phone video about 200 yards out, so the quality isn't the best. They trotted off once they saw us come into the meadow, but eventually settled down 400 yards out in the meadow. The black one even laid down, staring at us, while the other four eventually retreated into the timber after about 5 minutes of glassing them. YouTube link below for the video.

Unfortunately, we did not notch a tag on elk this year. Lots of fresh sign and elk on camera leading up to opening weekend, but couldn't get on them the rest of the week.

Thanks, great example of how 'shy' local wolves are, coyote family would have out of there in a split second.  And yes, we do see a group of this years pup coyotes running together this time of year.
