Ted's Sports Center ~ Closing its doors for Good
« on: October 08, 2019, 05:08:07 PM »

Just to let you know, I was over at Ted's Sporting Goods (Ted's Sports Center) in Lynnwood today talking with him and he said he is going to close his doors by the end of the year.
He said: He is going to retire, so if you guys and gals need some fishing stuff and you been supporting him, head over there and give him dome last business.

Sad to hear; when living in N. Seattle in the 1980's Ted's was a regular stop for me. Mike Chamberlain was a wealth of knowledge on fishing; especially North Puget Sound salmon fishing. I hope he is is good health and will still be able to enjoy the now limited opportunity that fishery offers.

I knew Ted and also met Mike back when he and I were both skinny.

I was just wondering about that store, I used to live a few blocks away and that got expensive.

I would say someone should buy it, but the way WDFW manages the fishing in the state, it may not be a good investment.

I consider Mike a friend, and was bummed to hear about this.  He'd mentioned this was coming, but it was always "in a couple of years."  I suppose the recent hits the fisheries have taken were too much to take.

Thanks. I spent a lot there over the years but less and less as fishing opportunities on the rivers dwindled.

Ted's is still open.  I think Mike has had a change of heart or has at least postponed closing for now..

I was in there early this year. As I recall it was 15% off most items store wide. I think only the high dollar reels/gear were still full price. I did score some old first gen Flatfish that came in handy!

Sounds like Mike is closing end of the month for sure this time.  Last day Sept 30.

Going to miss Ted’s. Never regretted a dollar I spent in there.
