Taxidermist in Portland/Vancouver area
« on: October 14, 2019, 02:33:48 PM »
A buddy of mine's son shot a nice whitetail on the opener.  His name is Colin and a student at Boise State and his Dad lives in Vancouver.    Colin would like to get the buck mounted but is somewhat on a limited budget.  They were wondering if anyone could recommend a taxidermist down in the area for a reasonable price.  I'd rather not turn this into a thread about "getting what you pay for in taxidermy."  I get all of that, and it is very true in a lot of cases.  This is a buck that he's kind of on the fence about mounting so I told him I would come on here and ask the question.   Thanks...

I use Jennings taxidermy in Rainer, OR.  Affordable, fast and good quality.

Have you suggested a European mount? Basically free to do yourself and looks better then a stuffed animal.

Little farther north, but Black River Taxidermy in Rochester does incredible work.

Joel is really good at listening to your ideas and working with them/taking them to the next level.  He did the Euro in my avatar after I said I wanted the state and arrow included in it.

This guy has good pricing, and some discounts available. He has my elk right now, in Vancouver. Great guy too. Probably can work on payments.

Have you checked out Vancouver Taxidermy? The owner there is a master. I just sent him my elk hide. Unlike most of the other taxidermist he can do the entire process.

That's a great looking buck and would make a great euro mount, but I prefer shoulder mounts most of the time. Jim August Taxidermy in the Portland area did a great job on some African animals for me, not sure if he's got a website or just Facebook.
Disappointments are inevitable, misery is optional.
