1999 Ford F250 7.3 4x4 Superduty front end

I have a 99 F250 Superduty and I need some work done on the front steering/ suspension. I have some play in the steering and starting to get some clunking sound around the wheel areas. Any suggestions on what parts to replace? Trying to keep it out of the shop if possible. It also has a leveling kit and approx. 34" tires on it if that makes a difference. Thanks.

I had a 99 F350 power stroke that ate tie rods ends...ball joints.... wheel bearings... might have been my driving too come to think of it. Nice thing is that those rigs are simple to work on

I have a 99 250 super duty. My steering box was sloppy at around 150,000 so I replaced it and its coming up on 300,000 now and has a little play but not bad. I have stock wheels and suspension tho.
I'm not sure.

Can you wiggle the tire top to bottom with it off the ground? Wheel bearings are simple to do and failed long before anything else on my last ford.

Jack it up and get both wheels off the ground and have someone Jiggle and turn the steering wheel back and forth while you look and listen for the problem.Straight axle is pretty easy to work on.Check wheel bearings as mentioned also.U-joints on my old Dodge failed at 75,000

I have the same thing going on right now on my 2003 F350.

Ball joints and sway bar bushing every 100K +/-. I'm nearing my 3rd time around the sun. Done them once myself. Not that difficult. Just took the uppers and lowers to my local shop and had them pressed on. Added greaseable joints. I don't think they made any difference over non-greaseable. I'm due again and will be doing the steering gear box this time around. Things are getting sloppy again.

Replace your wheel bearings at the same time. They are a non serviceable. It's gonna be around $2-3k+ if you do your half shaft knuckles, bearings, upper and lower ball joints, sway bar bushing, tie rod ends and brakes. add in an alignment when you're all done. While you're at it put on new shocks. They eat shocks up as fast as ball joints. Don't overlook it. makes a big difference.

that’s about the truth, but it’s like driving a brand new truck when you get all that done, power steering pumps tend to die in them too, I still have the puller for that job buried in one of my tool boxes
