No expert by any means at all but I have heard usually timber rubbing, on trees with decent pitch (fir and pine) but can be aided by rubbing on burned trees and brush. Sage brush country bucks are usually lighter antlered. But again, claim no proven knowledge just what I have heard.

But how do you get the buck to stand still while you do that??

That's easy just  throw a lastle around em ride them into the shop , throw  them a plate of.snacks before the make over
