Just posted RS26! (We're familiar with it here on Hunt-WA! MtLion took out my Foxpro. Posting here just in case some don't know about the STACK of lion calling stories I'm compiling.)

Long story but a great read about a FUN encounter!

Another tip ....
Don't over call one area.

In an ideal world ,you would have 4 different cams, miles apart with four different cats.
You could call each area twice a week. Then move on to the other area the next week.
Mathematically the odds are stacked against you, unless you got four cams with cats.
Cougar that is sitting on a kill with a full belly is not gonna come in,most likely.

I had a cougar on cam all summer, opening day called a few hours.
Left didn't come back for a month, checked cam, cougar was on cam September 2.
The next day,I'll never know. Should I have went back the next day. :dunno:
Did the cat hear my call the day before. :dunno:
Was he hungry. :dunno:
Was my setup flawed.  :dunno:
Alot of don't know when it comes to cat hunting.

All I'm saying is call one day, come back and try again another time.
The way cats stash there kills and all that. You never know what day is gonna be hungry day for a cat.

Another tip that goes against what people tell ya.

Is I like draws.
Setup in a draw ,with a game trail, creek,or something that brings deer through it.
Fox pro in the bottom, setup on one side. Watch the other side from a 100-300 yards out.
I think a lot of times cats come in ,but don't fully comment to call.
Draws are easy to catch them wandering around on the other side, while your hidden on one side.

That's all I got man.
Biggest thing keep at it.

Yep. Put your caller on the other side of a draw and always at least 100 yards from you. They pick up movement easily.

I still haven't shot one but have called them in. Unfortunately most at night with thermal equipment.
If I need a permit and education to buy a firearm than women should need a permit and education  before getting an abortion.

Voting for Democrats is prima facie evidence you are a skirt wearing, low T, beta male. Do better.

Ive been trying to get my timing right with this tom but it hasn't worked out yet. A buddy gave me some intel on him and I wasnt able to get out there until 20 hours after he showed up. I called for a long time and nothing showed up. I tried several nearby drainages and ended up calling in a bobcat on cougar vocals but no cougar. 5 days later the cat showed up on his camera again, however it was early in the night during a week day when I had to work in the morning. After work in the evening I went out there and made a set on the road in some thick reprod. I called for well over an hour but it started getting dark. I played cougar in heat vocals extremely loud, then put a camera up and left. I started the walk out around 7:15pm. I got home and as soon as I walked through the door I got this picture. This is the result of setting up too far from the cat. I wish I wouldve walked in about a 1/2 mile more, however its thick dark timber and wouldve made for a difficult stand being so close to night time.
