Help with replacing a heater in an old camper.
« on: October 22, 2019, 08:45:07 AM »
Anyone on here have experience with replacing there gas/propane heater or just the fan on an older camper?  My daughter just bought a 1998 camper that has a super loud heater fan, the circuit board seems to work just fine, but sounds like the fan is going to fall apart.  Not squealing, just clunky.  Fans are cheap, whole new heater is around 400.  Anyone just replace their fan? Easy, pain??    Also, it came with an instant hot water source, they want to be able to have hot water dry camping.  Is it worth keeping the insta hot and using a generator ( will a 2,000 watt run insta hot?? ) , or would it be better to just install a 6 gal hot water gas/power tank???
“In common with”..... not so much!!

Check u tube  I swapped out the water heater in my camper this way. Pretty easy. Bought the replacement online as it was cheaper than any dealer or RV shop, same brand & model.
I have Man Chit to do

Water heater is easy. I didn’t change my furnace, but did some maintenance to it. Getting it in and out is the hardest part. If you can get the heater for 400.00 I’d replace everything and be done with it for a while.

Also for others reading this who have a bad fridge, you can get a rebuilt cooling unit for about 400 and reuse the existing fridge/freezer. It’s usually 4 screws holding it to the back of the box. Simple to repair after you have removed the fridge and about 1/3 of new.
